In case of an emergency, such as storm water back up or water main break, call (304) 876-2394.

The Public Works Department is dedicated to the maintenance and upkeep of the streets, town sidewalks, curbs, and storm water systems. This department of five individuals, is also responsible for the management of trash and garbage pickup using environmentally proper disposal and recycling programs.

STREETS
The maintenance and repair of streets in town is a shared responsibility of the town and the state, as many of the roads through town are state roads.

SIDEWALKS
The maintenance and repairs of sidewalks in front of private premises is the responsibility of the homeowner. If damage is due to town tree roots, the town will share in the expense.

SNOW REMOVAL
This department does an amazing job of salting, sanding and snow plowing the streets in town. In a town of many alleyways, they will also plow these once the roads have been done.

SIDEWALKS – SNOW & DEBRIS

Property owners are required to keep sidewalks clear of snow, ice and debris.
And it’s required that the sidewalks in town be cleared within a reasonable time not later than 9:00am, and 4:00pm, each day that snow or ice accumulates.

STORM WATER ISSUES
Heavy rains can cause issues with stormwater drainage. Should this occur, please contact (304) 876-2394.
