Shepherdstown, WV — On Wednesday, January 27, 2025, the Shepherdstown Mayor and Town Council sent a letter to the Jefferson County Planning Commission in opposition to the proposed Mountain Pure development and its planned extraction of county water. The letter emphasizes that water extraction is not a permitted use under the county’s zoning ordinance.

The Mayor and Council urges county officials to consider the potential environmental and community impacts of the proposed project and to enforce existing zoning ordinances.
