The proceedings of the November 13, 2024, Shepherdstown Town Council meeting, regarding a funding request by the Contemporary American Theater Festival, were misreported in the Shepherdstown Chronicle on December 13, 2024. While the Council did support consideration of this request, it has not, in fact, been approved.

Such requests must go through a rigorous review process, which includes Finance Committee analysis and deliberation by the full Council among many competing priorities. An expression of support for any organization does not constitute or guarantee approval of funding.

The Shepherdstown Town Council strives to be diligent stewards of town finances. Funding requests such as this are considered through a fair and transparent process, as required by Town ordinances, utilizing the Comprehensive Plan as a guide.
